Shopping Expressions:

  1. May I help you?

This is a polite way for a salesperson to offer assistance to a shopper.

  1. I’m just browsing, thanks.

When you want to look around without assistance.

  1. Do you have this in my size?

If you’re looking for a specific clothing size.

  1. How much does this cost?

To inquire about the price of an item.

  1. Is there a discount on this item?

Asking if there’s a reduced price or sale.

  1. I’ll take it.

When you’ve decided to buy an item.

  1. Do you accept credit cards?

To ask about payment options.

  1. Can I return this if it doesn’t fit?

To inquire about the store’s return policy.

  1. Could you gift-wrap this, please?

When you want an item wrapped as a gift.

  1. I’d like a receipt, please.

Requesting a proof of purchase.

 

Bargaining Expressions:

  1. Can you give me a discount?

A polite way to start bargaining.

  1. What’s the best price you can offer?

Asking for the lowest possible price.

  1. I’ve seen it cheaper elsewhere.

Mentioning a competitor’s price to negotiate.

  1. Is there room for negotiation on this price?

Inquiring about the possibility of bargaining.

  1. I’m a regular customer here. Can you give me a special price?

Leveraging loyalty for a discount.

  1. I’ll buy more items if you can reduce the total price.

Suggesting a bulk purchase for a better deal.

  1. I’m willing to pay cash. Can you offer a discount for that?

Mentioning cash payment as a negotiation point.

Requesting an additional item at the same cost.

Pushing for the seller’s best and last price.
