Present Continuous Tense
Present Continuous Tense is used to describe actions or events that are happening right now or are in progress at the moment.
The Formula and The Examples
- Positive Sentence
Formula:
Subject + am/is/are + verb-ing
Examples:
- The candidate is confidently answering the interviewer’s questions.
- The HR manager is reviewing the applicant’s resume right now.
- Our team is conducting job interviews for various positions in the hotel.
- Negative Sentence
Formula:
Subject + am/is/are + not + verb-ing
Examples:
- The candidate is not impressing the interviewer with their answers.
- The HR manager is not currently available for interviews.”
- Our team is not interviewing candidates on weekends.
- Interrogative Sentence
Formula:
Am/Is/Are + subject + verb-ing?
Examples:
- Is the candidate showcasing their skills during the interview?
- Is the HR manager currently interviewing applicants?
- Are we conducting interviews for the new restaurant staff?
Noted: The choice of “am,” “is,” or “are” depends on the subject of the sentence:
“I” uses “am”
“You,” “We,” “They,” and other plural subjects use “are”
“He,” “She,” “It,” and other singular subjects use “is”
