Lesson 15 – Lost!
Warm up
- Elicit: eyes, hair, skin. curly, dark, fair, long, short, straight, wavy.
- Make sentences about students, or famous people, to teach/revise the adjectives, e.g. Paulo has got short hair. Tina\’s hair is long and curly. Include dark/fair skin and eye colour.
- Describe a student in class, so your friends can guess who you are describing.
Main activity
Listening
- Make into groups of four. Each group picks one picture on the slide below.
- You are going to hear information about a lost child. You must find the child on your slide.
- Play the recording twice. Ask each group to decide which child is lost.
- Check your answers.
Speaking
- You are going to play the lost child game.
- Listen carefully the teacher will describe the characteristics of the missing child.
- Then guess by matching which picture matches the description of the missing child\’s characteristics that the teacher has read out. Just type the serial number of the image.
Follow up
- Draw a face, and write a description on a separate piece of paper.
- Collect pictures and give them randomly. Make sure no one gets your own picture back.
- Describe the drawing you made in front of the class. You may ask about the pictures, but you may not show each other.
- Make a note of who might have the photo among your friends. When everyone thinks they\’ve come up with your own image, Find out who\’s right and who\’s wrong.
- Write down the resulting description of the missing child\’s picture by typing the answer on the web.
- Then the teacher will randomly select students and instruct you and your friends to tell the results of your work orally.
